Welcome to Downfield Data. Using the site means you're okay with the rules below. They're short, and they're written to be read.

What this site is

Downfield Data publishes the output of a college football prediction model: win probabilities, projected spreads and totals, team ratings, and a graded record of how those numbers performed. All of it exists for analysis and entertainment.

Model output, honestly framed

The predictions here are statistical estimates, and estimates miss. We make no guarantee of accuracy, completeness, or profitability, and the graded record on the receipts page includes every loss for exactly that reason. Past performance never promises future results.

Nothing on this site is betting advice, financial advice, or a recommendation to place any wager. What you do with the numbers is your call and your responsibility.

If you choose to gamble

Sports betting is restricted to people 21 or older in most U.S. jurisdictions, and it's only legal in some places. Know the law where you live, and only bet what you can afford to lose. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, call 1-800-GAMBLER.

The words, model outputs, charts, and design on this site belong to Downfield Data. Link to anything, screenshot anything, share anything with attribution. Wholesale scraping or republishing the site's data or articles as your own is off the table.

Team names, marks, and colors belong to their respective schools and owners. Their appearance here is identification, never sponsorship or endorsement.

We link to other sites (including our daily game, KnowBall). Those sites run under their own terms and policies, and we're responsible only for our own.

The site, as is

The site is provided as is, with no warranties of any kind. Data feeds hiccup, pipelines stall, and numbers occasionally post late; we fix things fast, but we can't promise uninterrupted or error-free service, and we aren't liable for decisions made on the basis of the site's content.

Changes

We may update these terms as the site grows. When the substance changes, the date at the top changes with it, and continued use means you accept the update. Questions go to @downfielddata.
